Why ATECC?

American Tamil Educational and Cultural Center is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 41-3828523) born from a shared vision between two pillars of the St. Louis Tamil community — the Tamil Sangam of Missouri (TSM) and the Missouri Tamil School (MOTS).

Together, they dreamed of something lasting: a permanent home where Tamil culture, language, and education could thrive for generations to come.

As that dream moves closer to reality, a dedicated legal and financial structure has become essential — ensuring transparent governance, separate accounts, independent audits, and rigorous financial reporting. This foundation is not just good practice; it is the bedrock of grant eligibility and long-term donor trust.

ATECC is incorporated as a nonprofit corporation with a clear and focused mission:

  • Developing, constructing, operating, and managing a multi-purpose educational and cultural center at 17800 Mueller Road, Wildwood, MO 63038
  • Providing a permanent institutional home for Tamil language education, arts, heritage, and community life in the greater St. Louis area

This is more than a building. It is a commitment — to our community, our culture, and the generations who will carry it forward.

1. Supporting and promoting:
         – South Indian/Tamil language education
         – Tamil arts, literature, and heritage
         – Cultural programs and community celebrations
         – Educational and charitable outreach activities
2. Organizing:
         – Weekend language school classes and cultural education programs
         – Holiday festivals, youth and sports events, and senior services
         – Community-building events for the Missouri Tamil community

1. This is a join venture of Missouri Tamil School and Tamil Sangam Of Missouri
2. Fostering a strong sense of unity and cultural identity among Tamil families and future generations. 6. Engaging in any other lawful activities in furtherance of the purposes above, provided that such activities are consistent with the
tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3). Notwithstanding any other provision of these Articles, the ATECC shall not carry on any activities not permitted to be carried on
by a corporation exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
